What is One School, One Book?
One School, One Book is a program designed to get students and parents excited about reading while building a community of readers. This year at FMES, students will be reading the story in their classrooms instead of at home. 2020 has presented us with the challenge of how to encourage a culture of readers in the midst of unique environmental circumstances. As a school, students will hear chapters read aloud daily, and participate in discussions, literacy activities, and trivia. Whether your child attends in-person learning or the virtual academy, they are all a very special part of our FMES family. We hope this event brings all of us together regardless of where their classroom is. We know your children are going to love this engaging, fun, fantasy story, so please ask them about it every night and feel free to follow along.

Dragons in a Bag Zetta Elliott (2018)
When Jaxon is sent to spend the day with a mean old lady his mother calls Ma, he finds out she's not his grandmother--but she is a witch! She needs his help delivering baby dragons to a magical world where they'll be safe. There are two rules when it comes to the dragons: don't let them out of the bag, and don't feed them anything sweet. Before he knows it, Jax and his friends Vikram and Kavita have broken both rules! Will Jax get the baby dragons delivered safe and sound? Or will they be lost in Brooklyn forever? - Goodreads
